Happy Birthday Steen

Yesterday was Steen's b-day and I have been thinking a lot about him the last couple of days. He was a good father and a great man. I wish Jace could have met him and enjoyed his toy box that he would bring to family gatherings. Sheldon was lucky to have such a great father. We miss and love you!!

"A Kind Gentle Man"

With deepest sympathy we express our love to your family upon the passing of your beloved father. We are grateful that our lives crossed paths with him when Julie and Sheldon were married. Since that time we have had the pleasure of enjoying a number of events in SLC with Steen and the rest of the Olsen family. He was, indeed, a kind gentle man that won our hearts. We remember fondly sharing some of life's greatest moments as proud parents when both Sheldon and Julie graduated from their respective colleges. We will never forget the many picnics we enjoyed in his yard and the generosity he showed us while we visited in Utah. We love all of you and hope as you go through this difficult time, you will take comfort in knowing that your life as well as many others were greatly blessed because of the fine man you had the privilege of calling "dad."

In memory of Steen Olsen

Steen Olsen was born on March 3rd, 1944, to Gustav and Inge Olsen in Copenhagen, Denmark. He passed away peacefully at the age of sixty-four on November 23, 2008. A viewing will be held in his honor at Larkin Mortuary, located at 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake City, on November 29, 2008 from 8:30-9:45 A.M. A memorial service will follow also at the Larkin Mortuary at 10:00 A.M. Following the memorial service Steen will be laid to rest at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Steen is survived by His mother, Inge Olsen. His sisters Jette, Dorte, and Annemette. His three children, Lance, Heidi, and Sheldon.

While in his youth Steen and his family moved to the United States and settled in the Salt Lake area. He eventually found his place living on 700 East in Salt Lake City where he lived until he passed away. He was self-employed in the vending business and was known to many as the Candy Man.

Steen was a genuine person and was always helping someone if he could. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and spent a lot of time with family and close friends. He will be missed by all.

Today we say good bye to a great man. A man who is known as a son, a brother, a dad, and a grandfather. Today we say good bye to a man who has touched our hearts. A man who will be missed dearly.

Below are some pictures of memories we have of steen. We invite you to join us in rememberence in sharing your memories of Steen.

Steen loved Liberty Park. He always made sure he had bread to feed the ducks and loved taking the grandchildren to play at the playground.

We will always remember celebrating the 24th of July in his yard. This picture was taken July 2008. Steen is holding his newest grandchild, Sidney.

This picture was taken in 2006 when Kris, Steen's sister, came to visit.

This picture was taken March 2008 at Steen's 64th birthday party

This is a picture of Steen and Mormor being silly. You never knew what Steen was going to pull out at a family dinner.

This is one of the last pictures we have of Steen with all of his grandchildren. The picture was taken at Hogle Zoo on October 25th, 2008
